International Standards for Mentoring and Coaching Programmes (ISMCP)

This standard ensures that your mentoring and/or coaching programmes are: Systematically designed; Professionally managed; and Contribute to the strategic priorities of the key stakeholders.

The International Standards for Mentoring and Coaching Programmes (ISMCP) is an international independent accreditation awarded to organisations designing, delivering, and evaluating mentoring and/or coaching programmes either ‘in-house’ or externally. It sets a  globally accepted benchmark of good practice in programme management. It is an integral and essential step on the path to establishing the professional credibility and status of good mentoring and/or coaching programme management.

Six core standards evaluated:

1.  Clarity of purpose

2. Stakeholder training and briefing

3. Process for selection and matching

4. Processes for measurement and review

5. Maintains a high standard of ethics

6. Administration and support

Award levels

Bronze

70% overall adherence to the Core Standards with at least 60% in each category.

Silver

80% overall adherence to the Core Standards with at least 70% in each category.

Gold

90% overall adherence to the Core Standards with at least 80% in each category.

Application Criteria:

To undertake the award assessment, your programme will need to have completed a minimum of one twelve-month cycle.

There are two main types of evidence needed to complete the assessment:

  1. Documented evidencing of core standards achieved and

  2. A Verbal account gained through an interviewing/consultation process with EMCC Global Assessor.

From this, you will get your final accreditation report and detailed feedback on your programme, including positive and developmental.

The accreditation is valid for 3 years, at which point a re-evaluation is required for renewal.

ISMCP provides a checklist and a comprehensive framework that will help guide your organisations through the process. We recommend booking a call with a local EMCC Ireland Mentor.
